The ski jumping hill in Oberstdorf

The legendary Heini-Klopfer ski jump, which was completely renovated and modernized in 2016 and 2017, lives up to its reputation. As one of the largest ski jumps in the world, it has a new barrier-free inclined elevator. This makes it easy to get to the "foot" of the ski jump tower. From here, you can look out over the entire area and enjoy a spectacular view of the Stillachtal valley, Freibergersee lake and the Oberstdorf mountains. Enjoy a unique panorama from the top of the "leaning tower of Oberstdorf" - as the people of Oberstdorf affectionately call it - and get a taste of real world champion air.

With a total size (Hillsize HS) of 235 m and a height of 72 m (highest point above ground), visitors can experience first-hand what goes through an athlete's mind when they sit on the beam up here. The jump tower owes its nickname "leaning tower of Oberstdorf" to its cantilevered prestressed concrete construction.

The ski jump was originally designed by the three Oberstdorf long jumpers Sepp Weiler, Toni Brutscher and the architect and ski jumper Heini Klopfer (1918 - 1968), who performed the first flight from this bakken on February 2, 1950. The Heini Klopfer ski jump still bears his name in his honour, although the current inrun tower was built in 1973 and has been constantly modernized since then. To this day, the architecturally unique ski jump, which is held in the mountain exclusively at the height of the take-off table with rock anchors, is considered a static masterpiece. It is therefore not surprising that Oberstdorf was awarded the contract for the 2021 Nordic World Ski Championships at the 2016 FIS Congress in Cancún/Mexico.
